I get it if you think maybe my belief in the universal law of attraction is misplaced.īut the thing is, it’s not as simple as having a wish. If you’ve been wanting something, and perhaps even trying to use the tips in The Secret or elsewhere to manifest it into your life, it might feel as if the law of attraction is crap. Instead of the Universe conspiring to help you, it may well feel as if the Universe is conspiring against you. It’s possible that you’ve been wanting one or more things for a long while. A different job, or a new partner, or better pay, or a fatter bank account, or a trip to Disney World. Probably, you have something or things in life that you particularly want. And there are any number of people who want more money than what they have, yet remain poor or at a lower income level than they’d like. Yet there are hungry people in this world who badly want food and the assurance of regular meals, and they still starve. As my grandmother used to say, “If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride.” If it were as simple as wanting something and getting it, we’d all have everything we wanted fairly easily, and nobody would live in lack. Though I have quite a lot of thoughts about it, and about how it has often been misrepresented. The idea of the “law of attraction” has been widely discussed in books such as The Secret, and you can find lots of people who promise to help you use the law of attraction to magically manifest whatever you desire.ĭo I believe in the universal law of attraction?
